DRS 47853 and 47828 on the Cruise Saver Express 02-12-12

Another enjoyable sight at Preston was the arrival of the Cruise Saver Express running a return working from Southampton Eastern Docks to Glasgow Central. This particular service was hauled by former XP64 liveried Class 47, 47853 'Rail Express' and 47828, both looking very smart in their Direct Rail Services livery.

Rumbling in from the south nearly an hour late, the train sat in Platform 4 for several minutes before being given the all clear, resulting in the driver forcing the throttles nonchalantly to full before giving the pair a quick breather before giving them another energetic boost of power to accelerate towards their Scottish destination.
