Telescope Resolution - Celestron C90 MAK - Stacking Moon Video Frames

Virtual Pathfinder video: "Telescope Resolution - Celestron C90 MAK - Stacking Moon Video Frames", produced 18 February 2020. Music by The Infinite Wave.

This video shows a comparison between the theoretical diffraction limited resolution, and the actual resolution for the Celestron C90 MAK telescope.

The estimation of the actual resolution is made from an image of stacked video frames. The software Lynkeos is used for stacking the frames. This image shows the area around the Kepler lunar crater, with satellite craters of various sizes. By comparing the smallest details in the image to the sizes of known craters, it is possible to estimate the actual resolution of the telescope.

There are some factors causing a slight difference between the practical and theoretical resolution. The theoretical calculation used in the comparison is the Rayleigh criterion, but the result for Dawes' limit is also calculated.
