Winter began yesterday, so obviously now is the perfect time to release an Autumn themed video... ahem... yeah, this one may have taken a little longer to sort out than I'd hoped.
All the sounds are made from the samples shown at the beginning of the video. The samples were processed and layered together using Izotope RX and Logic, then moved to the Teenage Engineering OP-1 and Critter & Guitari Organelle to be sequenced, played, and recorded.
I built a two voice patch for the Organelle using Pure Data (this is mostly why the whole thing took so long). The first Organelle voice is a bass synth that uses two short bird samples as oscillators, which then have an extra bit of FM niceness applied to them. The second voice is a sort of Karplus Strong patch that uses samples of the leaves and twigs as a tuned 'noise' burst that's then fed through a pitched delay line, this voice is triggered using the OP-1's endless sequencer.
On the OP-1 most of the percussion is made form leaves and twig snaps. The kick is two sticks being hit together. A lot of the pitched sounds are made from bird samples, apart form the sort of 'marimba' sound which is more sticks.
The whole dawless jam is recorded using my phone and a Zoom H6 field recorder. The Organelle is powered using a portable battery pack intended for guitar pedals.
