How to reset Nissan/Hitachi TPS(throttle position sensor), DTC P0121, P0122, P0123 & P0510

Here we take a look at the #TPS(throttle position sensor) information about setting and How to troubleshoot DTC diagnostic trouble code #P0121, #P0122, #P0123 and #P0510. Here we discuss TPS wiring circuitry and testing to set ECM value for propper engine performance. The throttle position sensor responds to the accelerator pedal movement. This sensor is a type of potentiome-
ter which transforms the throttle position into output voltage, and emits the voltage signal to the ECM. In addition, the sensor detects the opening and closing speed of the throttle valve and feeds the voltage signal to the ECM. Idle position of the throttle valve is determined by the ECM receiving the signal from the throttle position sensor. This sensor controls engine operation such as fuel cut. On the other hand, the “Wide open and closed throttle position switch”, which is built into the throttle position sensor unit, is not used for engine control. Does the vehicle have problems with shifting transmission or rpm idle is above normal recommend speed? TPS is worth diagnose to help render the issue.

Throttle position sensor circuit range/performance problem.
A)A high voltage from the sensor is
sent to ECM under light load driving
condition.

B)A low voltage from the sensor is
sent to ECM under heavy load driving condition.

P0122. Throttle position sensor
circuit low input An excessively low voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM. P0123. Throttle position sensor circuit high input An excessively high voltage from the sensor

changing the volt setting of the TPS also may change transmission gear shifting timing.
