In the last video we measured the forces I can exert on a steering wheel (link below). I do have an idea of how to build the whole thing: An aluminum shaft with a wheel attached running in a POM bearing. But how beefy has everything to be?

First we make some static calculations for the radial forces acting on the shaft and the bearing. Next we treat our shaft as a beam under bending forces. Finally we cover the edge load of our POM bearing. And that’s just for starters.
