Titan Missile Museum: Twang Test
Watch a test of Titan II's suspension system. The missile sits on a 26,000 pound (12,000 kg) ring called the thrust mount which, in turn, is suspended in the silo by four huge springs. This system permits the missile to ride out the shockwave of a nearby nuclear detonation, or even an earthquake. The film was shot at Vandenberg AFB, California.
