Malaguena - Live Flamenco Guitar Cover
Malaguena live flamenco guitar performance by Latin and Spanish Guitarist Vincenzo Martinelli from his "El Toro" album.....is a traditional Spanish composition.
Malagueña originates from a region in Andalusia which is the Iberian Peninsula or the Southern Coast of Spain. It reflects the spirit and personality of that particular geography known as Malaga. It really captures the true essence of Andalusia, the regional part of Southern Spain.
Malaguena El Toro is a song that has been played, danced to and sung and performed on variously different instruments. It has been recorded by a variety of artists and houses the spirit of Spain in the music.
For many reasons, it sits beautifully on the Spanish guitar and it reflects the culture, lifestyle & essence of the people. It’s a beautiful piece of music to play on the guitar. It sits nicely, technically on the guitar. It showcases techniques that we guitarists use such as rasgueado and tremolo and alternate finger patterns in the right hand & uses chords and single notes in a way that’s enjoyable for the artist to articulate & execute in performance.
So it is evocatively Spanish and easily recognisable and it always gets a good audience response. They’re the reasons why I’ve chosen to play and record that song.
My particular version of Malagueña is quite unique as I introduce the song with a flamenco exercise then I go into the song as it’s known in the traditional sense.
"Malagueña" was written by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona in 1928
The music video by Kill Bill Vol. 2 Soundtrack has a version of Malagueña Salerosa
