Optimized Star Adventurer Pro Heavy Payload Configuration
Star Adventurer Pro playlist of my related videos: https://tinyurl.com/dp-SAproSeries
I believe this is the final evolution of my imaging configuration for my Star Adventurer Pro star tracker, optimized as best I can achieve for the nearly 9-lb. payload of my Nikon D850 with Sigma C 150-600mm zoom, 1.4X teleconverter, ZWO guide scope and autoguider, and other accessories. Surprisingly, I did end up mounting the guide scope and autoguider above the tracker's polar axis, thus increasing the payload that must be balanced by the counterweighting. But, this also allowed a much neater cable management solution with no cables forward of mount to cause any drag or potential for snagging, and that may have been a bigger benefit than the cost of the weight shift. Overall, I'm very happy with the image quality and star quality, considering the photography equipment is not designed with a dedicated astrophotography objective in mind. The second half of the video presents part of an image editing session to show the type of results I'm getting, which I consider very respectable for 8-minute exposures at 850mm with the weight being carried by this star tracker.
