Emergency Winch Launch Failure at 80m (Training)

Practicing a high winch launch failure during stormy and gusty weather. I (PIC) filmed from the front seat and the glider was controlled from the rear seat.

During winch launch failure training we disconnect the cable during climb to simulate a cable failure. The glider pilot then fly’s an adapted circuit to get the glider on the ground safely. As you can see, the weather was quite gusty and especially then airspeed is paramount. However, you should not chase the needle l, but instead let the needle gently float around your target airspeed. This makes your path more stable and gives you more control of the situation.

The glider was flown by an Instructor Pilot in training from the rear seat. It is always nice to learn from each other and discuss certain topics before and after flight. A movie helps as it shows both pilots in reply what went well and what needs adjustment or training. Safety in Aviation = learn from each other and not to judged without all the facts.
Disclaimer: This is a training flight and not particularly an example on how to perform a winch launch failure correctly. Please, always discuss the subjects with a flight instructor
Furthermore, the camera was attached in a manner no harm could be done an hands used.
