Dealer RIP-OFF?? We think not. Fuel cleaning services explained

At this point, someone probably tried to sell you a "Fuel cleaning service" during a visit to a Dealer or service repair shop. They tell you it is to clean the fuel system, but what the heck does that mean, and do I need it?
** Professional services only, do not attempt this as a DIY if you don't know what you're doing!!**
* Also I am not represented by either product, just use them and have experienced great results*
Well, Yes - but, there is a difference in terminology used and different types offered. check out the video then have a look below!
Type 1: ( Chemicals on the left from BG )
This is the most common type performed in service shops. It's the easiest to perform on all makes and models and it cleans the most "surfaces." Also known as the; Top engine clean, induction service, fuel system cleaning service, and even fuel injector service because technically it adds a fuel additive and cleans the external area of the fuel injector nozzle. This service type is not the most effective in cleaning the fuel injectors, however.
Type 2: ( Fuel injector cleaning service) [ Toyota Brand ]
This type is the only way to really clean the spray pattern and inside passages of your fuel injectors. where the other one adds a fuel tank additive which may help over time, this one solely runs the car of another proprietary blend of alcohols which clean the inside of the fuel rail and fuel injectors. This one is just as good at removing carbon from injectors, piston tops and combustion chambers, and the back of intake valves on SFI vehicles. This service though, really really thrives at bringing back drivability problems from dirty injectors. I've actually seen this service save a clogged injector which was bad enough and caused a misfire!
So hopefully this clears up what the service writer at your local service department is trying to sell you, ask them what their service does, decide what's best for you. Below are some of the reasons Carbon is BAD!
- Decreased Power
- Reduced Fuel economy
- Hard/extended starts
- Poor/Reduced throttle response
- Increase of knock/ping/detonation
- In extreme conditions cause misfires, check engine lights, reduced engine life
- Sluggish feel
I'm sure there are more reasons, but help your car take care of you by keeping your engine clean!
I also am a HUGE fan of proper high-quality oils and fuels. don't "save" a buck by using the cheapest services or fuels around, you really aren't helping your engine! Keeping your engine as free as possible from harmful deposits will keep your car running much longer!
Thanks for watching!!
