"Host Factor Targeted Drug Discovery for SARS-CoV-2 Through an International Collaboration”

Kevan Shokat is a professor of cellular molecular pharmacology in the School of Medicine at UCSF. His lab focuses on the discovery of new small molecule tools and drug candidates targeting protein/lipid kinases, GTPases, and RNA helicases, using the tools of synthetic organic chemistry, protein engineering, structural biology, biochemistry, and cell biology.

Nevan Krogan is also a professor of cellular molecular pharmacology in the School of Medicine at UCSF. His lab works on developing and applying quantitative, systematic proteomic and genetic approaches to study complex biological and biomedical problems. The Krogan group is currently focused on studying cancer, infectious disease, and psychiatric disorders. Krogan obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Regina and his PhD from the University of Toronto.

Organized by Janelia's Sarada Viswanathan and Loren Looger, the Science of COVID-19 seminar series brings in outside experts, covers papers and preprints, and highlights local efforts in testing, production, and analysis.
