Ludlow Viewing Platform At The Base Of The Hill. A Monster Train With 2 DPU Locomotives Working Hard. A Top & Tail Train Passes The Viewing Tower With Steel Coils. 5 Locomotive Norfolk Southern Train Easing Down The Hill Holding Back A Long Train Of Intermodals. Long Hood Forward Locomotive Going Up The Hill With A Ton Of Boxcars. Ludlow, Kentucky Trains At The Base Of The Hill And Mid Hill.
Visiting the Ludlow Viewing Tower and caboose. Ludlow, Kentucky is along the Ohio River directly across from Cincinnati, Ohio. I returned here due to popular demand. I used to go here all the time but haven't been here in nearly a year. More of the brush was removed so the view has improved. The huge development on the hill above the tracks has progressed quite a bit since my last visit. Fischer Homes is building City View Station. You can see the bulldozers and excavators at work while the trains are passing. There was a dozer shoving a huge scraper and excavators were moving dirt while I was there. The first train is a gigantic mixed freight with 2 locomotive DPUs in the middle. This train actually took over 20 minutes to pass me. That is counting only while it was moving. I sped the video up 2X for most of the train. The second train is a Top & Tail Train. That just means that it has a locomotive at both ends. After I got these two trains I went to Crescent Springs which is mid way up the hill near Mile Post 7.
I got a train coming up the hill running long hood forward. That hammerhead locomotive looks awesome running backwards like that! Check out that nice cut of boxcars.
We also have a train with 5 locomotives easing down the wet rails. This is a northbound intermodal train with its next stop being Gest Street Yard in Cincinnati, Ohio. That train was a long one.
