Hiring a scooter in Thailand to explore rainforests

Today we rented a scooter (they call them motorbikes in Thailand) in Chiang Mai! They’re so much fun to cruise around on, luckily for us the traffic around Chiang Mai this time of year is very quiet so the roads were almost empty. Best of all - it was sunny! The weather forecast in Thailand pretty much says its going to be thunderstorms everyday during October (but it has barely rained in the week we’ve been here). But, we’re still grateful that the forecast was wrong yet again!

Chiang Mai is not a very big city (especially when compared to Bangkok) and its pretty easy to get out of town and into the rainforest, which is what we did today. We took a short drive to the start of a hike that is popular with the locals and takes you up to a waterfall and the Wat Pha Lat temple.

We said goodbye to our jobs, sold all our belongings, and left Australia on a one-way ticket to Shanghai with just each other and our backpacks! We plan to travel the world for a year, see as much as possible, meet as many people as we can, and most importantly MAKE OUR MONEY LAST!
