Tour St Petersburg - top sites by bike at night

There are so many places to see in #StPetersburg and it can be hard finding time to visit them all (especially with the crowds and waiting for public transport). So what’s another option? Well, how about touring the city by bike in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?! Thats exactly what we did and we had so much fun!

We love a good #DIYtour because you can tailor it to what you want to see, how much time you have and how far you want to go.

One thing you will need if doing this tour between 11pm and 3am (like we did) is COFFEE!!!

Cities always look different at night and we found the beauty of St Petersburg really shone once the sun went down…well the sun didn’t technically go down that night but you know what we mean!

This video features a couple from Indonesia who we met while in St Petersburg. We stayed at the same hostel and quickly became friends. When we think of our time in St Petersburg we instantly think of them and the fun times we shared.

We decided to hire our bikes from Velohostel (https://velohostel.com/en/). It cost 450 rubels for 12 hours, you could also hire them for 100 rubels per hour. They have a 24 hour reception so you can pick up and drop off the bikes anytime you like. All you need is a current form of ID or a cash deposit (which they refund). There are city bikes to hire but we read lots of bad reviews about them and we wanted the freedom to ride where we wanted without looking for a docking station. But that’s another option available to you.

We left our jobs, sold all of our belongings, and left Australia on a one-way ticket to Shanghai with just each other and our backpacks! We plan to travel the world for a year, see as much as possible, meet as many people as we can, and most importantly MAKE OUR MONEY LAST!
