The Chicago Dibs System

One of the most controversial Chicago traditions! I take a look at the origin and many examples of Dibs found on the streets of Chicago. Dibs is a system used to reserve your parking spot in Chicago when there was heavy snow. It isn't official and the city frowns upon it. But that doesn't stop people from doing it. Random objects, usually furniture, are placed in the street to deter other vehicles from parking in a space that you have shoveled out. The whole idea is that if you spend the time to dig it out, it should rightfully be yours. Others of course disagree.
