In this update about unemployment largely focused on California unemployment, we talk about the maximum benefits paid message, suspended accounts pending ID verification and since going live, I have confirmed you do not need to open a new PUA claim even if you had a link to do so when you checked your UI online messages this morning. If you just certified for benefits last week, we're waiting on updates from the CA EDD when we can certify next. I'm hoping it will be ready by 1/10 but that has not been confirmed yet. The 1099g is what the CA EDD sends for tax purposes, it is similar to a W2 from your employer. Here in California we will get the extra $300 unemployment in addition to our weekly benefit amount when we certify next.
