Google Maps faced backlash for unintentionally leading drivers through a perilous desert detour while on their way back home from the Formula 1 weekend in Las Vegas. The alternate route was to avoid a dust storm on the I-15 freeway, but ended up stranding multiple cars in the middle of the desert. Google has since apologized and promised to improve their routing system.
