Sony PS5 Doesn't Support VRR Out of The Box?

The Sony PS5 (Playstation 5) next-gen console doesn't appear to support VRR (variable refresh rate) out of the box, according to journalists who have received early review samples.

Perhaps similar to the Sony XH90 (also known as the Bravia X900H in the USA), the console is awaiting final HDMI 2.1 ratification for the VRR implementation?
