Jehovah's Witnesses are right about 607 BCE?! A Governing Body member speaks

Ray Franz had an axe to grind when he accepted his assignment to write the longest, most detailed article in the Watchtower's first Bible reference work, "Aid to Bible Understanding". When Franz started his research, he admits, he WANTED the Watchtower's traditional date for the fall of Jerusalem, 607 BCE, to be proved correct. He and his assistant tried to find ANY support for the preferred date. They found none. Nevertheless, when Franz's article was published in the "Aid" book, the traditional Watchtower date was upheld. Facts were not to be allowed to get in the way of Watchtower tradition. Truth was sacrificed on the altar of expediency. After all, changing the date for Jerusalem's fall would necessitate scrapping the Watchtower's foundation dogma -- the last generation began in 1914.
