The World's First Useless Candle
My Updated 2020 Video: The Conflicted Candle
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZDl4V0h5ek
Today I have something different and it is based on the concept of the useless box. This time while thinking outside the box (sorry for the pun) I decided to build a "Useless Candle" however Zelf Koelman has already built one with 5 candles controlled by a dimmer switch thus making his version much more practical then mine.
My useless candle incorporates a PICAXE14M2, 754410 H-Bridge and two geared motors taken from some mac floppy drives. Some will look at the schematic and say "why make this so complicated?" I could of used a single 8 pin PICAXE08M2 microcontroller and two servo motors and accomplish the same thing. In this design I wanted to use a couple of DC motors. Any one can take this design and incorporate it into a something like a light seeking robot. As you can also see I also used a couple of NPN transistors to invert some logic levels. WHAT!!!! why not use the spare pins on the microcontroller. Well I can but I want to show you if you are in a pinch and running low on I/O pins you can always incorporate a other descrete components such as a transistor. This project will be available by request.
