TRIP REPORT | A Spectacular Service! Really Impressed! | New York to Stockholm | Finnair A330-300

Finnair Trip Report flying from New York to Stockholm onboard one of the Finnair Airbus A330 on a lovely late-spring day.

A very comfortable flight with Finnair from New York JFK to Stockholm onboard one of their Airbus A330-300. However, the main reason why this flight was so comfortable is not that good... The flight was almost empty. We were, again, around 70-80 passengers on a Finnair long-haul flight.

We flew on a Finnair A330-300 that was equipped with the new seats and new entertainment system. There are no doubts that it's a huge improvement compared with the old one. The screen is really big and the brightness is much better. These new seats also feature a support for watching your own tablet.

About the flight itself, we took off from New York JFK around 30 minutes late due to the high traffic volume. It is great to see the airports again at the pre-pandemic levels. After a quick overfly of New York's northern part, we set heading towards the Labrador peninsula, leaving Boston on our right and Ottawa to the left. We finally entered the North-Atlantic ocean at the end of the Labrador peninsula. After 5h of cruising over the North Atlantic, we reached the Norway coast with the Sunrise. 1h later we touch down at Stockholm-Arlanda airport after a nice approach.

One interesting aspect of this flight is that there was no pure night at any moment. It was almost summer in the north hemisphere and we were flying at very high latitude. That means that there is always some Sunlight, no matter what time of the day is. Of course, we had a Sunset and a Sunrise, but between them, we didn't have a completely dark night. It's called Midnight-Sun-

About the catering service on this flight, the only thing I can say is that it was fantastic. Sincerely, it was one of the best I ever had on a plane in terms of taste. The main meal was composed of a cereal salad and the main course of grilled chicken with potatoes and vegetables. OMG, that chicken! It was incredibly tasty! It was so good that I asked for a second row if available. I got it in less than 3 minutes!

The breakfast consisted of a small warm English-type breakfast, with sausage, a french omelet with cheese, potatoes, and mushrooms. Again, a full selection of drinks was available. This time, when they served me the meal they told me they had more, so in case I would be still hungry after it, I just had to call the crew and they would bring me a second one. Truly amazing crew. They were super polite and very friendly. Always with a smile on the face. They made the flight much better.
