“I stand by my previous statement,” the national increase in cases comes after states didn’t abide strictly by the White House Coronavirus Task Force guidelines, Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, told Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C. The exchange came during a House hearing investigating the federal government’s response to the pandemic.
