JOSE APONTE EXPLAINS THE EVOLUTION OF CLAVE | Jazz Drummer Q-Tip of the Week

In this free drum set lesson, my good friend and colleague at the University of North Texas Jose Aponte breaks down clave, its history and how it developed. He succinctly explains how the clave flow was developed directly from a common West African 6/8 bell pattern and slowly evolved into both the rumba clave and son clave. This lesson is very clear and easy to follow and his demonstrations are great. I hope you enjoy this wonderful lesson on clave by Jose Aponte!
