DIY Stamp pt.2

DIY Stamp Making, Block printing, Lino Cutting.. I'm going show you how to make a multi colored stamp...Or how I made this 4 color print? This is kinda just my take on print making ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So for part one, I made this rubber stamp.. and for the second part im going to be using a Linoleum block.

So for first thing I'm going to do is open up to an empty page and trace the block. I'll probably print this image over the chest on a t-shirt. I wanted to do a design of hand so I took some pictures of my own to reference... and I went with that one.

I liked it enough, But there is an artist on Instagram named McKay Felt. I really like how he does his hands.. so I just stocked him a bit and ... yeah

I tried to take some inspiration from him, but it didn't record it actually changing the hand.. But that's how it turned out.

Now to get that image onto block. Just flip it over on top and use the top of your fingernail to rub it on. I tried to trace it with a pencil but it wasn't dark enough so I went over it with markererer.

Now we're good to cut it out. RULE 1----DONT CUT TOWARDS YOUR HAND OR YOUR BODY... cause you can cut yourself... in fact I did cut myself.

Also, thought you might want to know how I had my set up.. its not really important for making the Lino cut... it did it so that the camera would rotate with my block:) so the filming would look like this...

Once I got it all done I did a test print... You can see how to do most of the basic stuff in that part 1 video.

To get the other blocks (that will be for the other colors) ready to cut, I just taped down a square and a piece of paper. I used the black stamp and made it snug with the square and stamped it on the paper. While the ink was still wet, I took the blank block, squared it up, and pressed it on the wet ink. That will make a ghost image in the same place as your black stamp.. Making a good reference for the colors.

I decided on three colors (so I needed to do that to three blank blocks). I figured out where which color will go where and started on the pink base color.

I also used some glue dots to put under the block to help it from moving. You could just use a corner (kinda like the square ruler I had) to hold it in place.. I use used glue dots to keep it in the middle of the scene...

So I cut out all the colors.. On the shadow one, I used a white marker to draw it out first. That helped a lot and would recommend doing that first...

To get all the prints to line up, tape down a square and tape down a piece of paper over that on the left side so it will flip up and down with out moving.

You can then put each block snug against the square and with the paper over top, you can use a spoon or something to rub the ink into the paper:)

To get more range on the colors you could overlay some of them and use an ink extender to make the inks transparent:) Thats what I did with the pink color so that when it was over top it would make the red color underneath a lil lighter:)
