EASY AYURVEDIC RITUAL FOR IMPROVING HEALTH DRASTICALLY!
The simple and unique science of ‘Ushapan’ has been around for thousands of years. Now, modern science is beginning to understand the incredible benefits of yet another ancient Ayurvedic practice.
So what is Ushapan really? It is a form of water therapy, where immediately after waking up in the morning you drink a couple glasses of water before taking any other actions. It’s important that you drink the water even BEFORE brushing your teeth as the saliva that’s stored in the mouth while sleeping has strong medicinal properties.
Other important tips are: Have your water waiting for you by your bed so you can make it an easy habit! Ayurveda does, however, suggest you drink water either room temperature, warm or hot based off of your specific dosa, but if you don’t know what that is it’s not a completely terrible - I’d recommend room temperature until you learn more! (Another important note is that Ayurveda says to never drink water cold!)
Keep it plain - don’t add anything else to the water like lime, lemon, etc. A lot of people think this adds more antioxidants and does a better job in replenishing the system, however, water by itself has the power to detoxify, hydrate and regulate your body due to its unique genetic pattern.
IMPORTANT: Don’t eat anything for another 30-40 minutes after consuming! Your body needs this time to flush out, hydrate and energize the cells so it can begin removing the ama (toxins) accumulated in your body.
