Our Skoolie Dinette Converts into a Bed and a Couch!

It took us 4 days, but our dinette turned out even better than we expected! We used part of our extra butcher block counter top as our table, and created 2 single bench seats with storage space inside. We couldn't be happier with the results! We wanted a dinette mostly for the fact that we both like sitting a table when we eat, but it also gives us comfortable room to edit video, work on crafts or projects, etc. We still wanted more out of it though. We wanted to have an extra bed at the very least, but you know Mike ~ he made sure the measurements worked as an extra couch, too! Kerry is going to sew up some extra pillows we'll use for the "back" of the couch when we have company! Each seat is approximately 24" wide X 22"deep, and the table is 24" wide X 30" long. This gives us a finished bed/couch space of 74 inches in length.

Products in this video:

Kreg Jig R3 Pocket Hole Jig System - This is an updated version of what I show in this video. They don't make the one i showed anymore! This is an improved version and actually quite a bit more advanced than the one I showed. That is why I posted this link.

Kreg SML-C125-250 1-1/4" Coarse Thread Number 8 Zinc Coated Pocket Hole Screws (250 Count) - I mainly use this size of screw because it is for 3/4" material attaching to 3/4" material. Occasionally I use larger but this is my goto.

BOSTITCH BTCK410L2 18V Lithium 2-Tool Combo Kit - This is the driver/drill combo I use and actually purchased a second driver. This is a solid alternative to Dewalt no matter who tells you different. This entire skoolie whas built with them and they have never even hiccuped during use.

Hobart 500554 Handler 190 MIG Welder 230V - This is the welder I use. I am not by any means a welder but this came highly recommended to me by a welder and has been a solid addition to the tool box and has fabricated everything that is metal on this build.

About Us:

Hi! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever!
We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond!

Mike & Kerry
