Life in Pieces (TV Series) | He Tried to Bribe a Cop With Wizard Fingers

Greg and Jen are severely sleep-deprived after continuously caring for their baby daughter, Lark. When only one diaper remains, Jen sends Greg to a nearby convenience store to buy more and asks him to bring back a slushie.

At the store, Greg notices several dried-out hot dogs on a heated roller. The employee explains that after sitting there for six hours, they are no longer called hot dogs and are instead known as “Wizard Fingers.”

The strange name catches Greg’s attention, and he buys two Wizard Fingers along with Jen’s drink. Because he is extremely tired and distracted by the food, he forgets to purchase the diapers.

A police officer later stops Greg while he is driving home. Greg assumes he was speeding, but the officer tells him that he was only traveling fourteen miles per hour.

When asked for his license and registration, Greg becomes confused and offers the officer his food or drink instead. His unclear response makes the officer wonder whether Greg is attempting to bribe him.

Greg explains that he has only slept for two hours and has eaten something called Wizard Fingers. Although a breath test shows no alcohol, the officer suspects he may have taken another substance and decides to bring him to the station for a urine test.

Greg asks to deliver the diapers first, but the officer checks the car and finds none. Greg realizes that he forgot them and is placed in the back of the police vehicle.

Greg calls Jen and explains that he forgot the diapers and is being taken for testing. Jen angrily complains that Greg always seems to avoid the most difficult parts of caring for Lark.

While Jen continues asking when she will finally get a chance to rest, Greg falls asleep in the back of the police car. Jen repeatedly calls his name, accidentally waking Lark, and tells the sleeping Greg that he has disturbed the baby again.
