All these stories are being shared for educational and entertainment purposes. Please regard all humans and their stories with dignity and respect. I find medical stories like the ones shared here as a reminder of how amazing and resilient the human body is. I hope you find it as mesmerizing and as beautiful as I do.
Story 1: Corneal abrasion: These are commonly seen in the eye clinic but some are worse than others. This particular one was fairly extreme and what makes it a scary story is that the patient was blind in the other eye. Making it more difficult to treat and potentially threatening the patient’s vision.
Story 2: Enophthalmitis - Most eye surgeries go without complications but when things go wrong, these become true horror stories. This patient unfortunately developed a case of endophthalmitis, which is an infection of the inner eye and needed advanced treatments for the infection.
Story 3: Sympathetic Ophthalmia: Although rare, sympathetic ophthalmia can be a true scary story for doctors. This story may be the most graphic, but the threat to the healthy eye is why this story can be so terrifying.
Story 4: More graphic and disgusting if anything. This is probably one of my most creepy stories in that the patient’s skin and bone were changing and flaking off.
