Watch to learn how to:
Make a cardboard loom
Set up (warp) the loom
Make rya knots (fringe)
Plain weave
Remove the weaving from the loom
Tuck in the loose ends
Turn the weaving into a necklace
You will need:
Cardboard ( 2.25” x 3” inch piece)
More cardboard scrap
Yarn
Embroidery floss or similar thread
Scissors
Tape
Ruler
Bobby pin or yarn needle (like this one https://www.michaels.com/knit-quick-plastic-needles/10228237.html)
Necklace cord or chain
Two jump rings
Pliers (optional)
More details about making and warping a cardboard loom:
To make a cardboard loom, cut your cardboard to size, about 2 ¼ " x 3". Mark the top and bottom of the short ends every ¼ ". Then cut a notch about 1/4" deep at each mark using scissors. You will have eight cuts on the top and eight on the bottom.
Beginning at the top left, tuck the end of the thread into the first notch, leaving a tail on the back. Wrap your warp thread around the loom, going from the top to bottom of the loom. End the warp thread at the top of the loom leaving a tail in the back. To create rya knots (fringe), cut 12 pieces of yarn about 5 inches in length.
