The Black Legion are the Sons of Horus renamed following the eventual defeat of their Primarch at the climax of the Horus Heresy, and a byword for Chaos' brutal incursions into realspace over the intervening ten thousand years. Harbouring a deep hatred of the Imperium and its scant few allies, the Black Legion have long waited, plotting their revenge, mounting raids and assaults to slowly tip the balance of power in their favour.

What was the Eye of Terror would split the galaxy in two as it erupted into the Cicatrix Maledictum, the Great Rift which severed contact between two halves of the Imperium. At long last, the Black Legion had begun their revenge in earnest - finally they would see the Emperor torn from the Golden Throne and mankind scattered from the stars...
