In US news and current events today, the U.S. is slowly starting to reopen amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which prompted lockdowns and stay-at-home orders across the country. But the coronavirus is still taking a massive toll on the country, and anti-lockdown protesters pushing back against stay-at-home orders are coming out in droves in states like Michigan, North Carolina, California, and Minnesota.

In Minnesota, a group of nurses working the front lines of COVID19 protected the streets to nearby hospitals from anti-lockdown protesters. Hundreds of people joined in a drive-by rally at the Minnesota State Capitol put together by a group called Gridlock Minnesota to call on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to end the state's stay-at-home order amid the coronavirus pandemic. 'As a nurse, I’m the first person you’re gonna run over if you open the state up and just let people congregate,' said one nurse facing off with the anti-lockdown coronavirus protesters.
