Skateboarding: The Education Nobody Designed | Alexander Korkelia | TEDxTbilisi Green School Youth

This talk offers a personal reflection on how learning and growth often happen outside traditional classrooms, exploring skateboarding as an overlooked form of education built on observation, failure, trust, and community. It challenges the way we define “useful” spaces and skills, revealing how informal environments can quietly shape resilience, judgment, and human connection in ways we often fail to recognize. Alexander aka Sandro is an 18-year-old student at Green School. For the past eight years, he has navigated the streets of Tbilisi on a skateboard and behind a camera, documenting the lives and stories of Georgian youth. Sandro enjoys exploring new cities, meeting people from all walks of life, and learning from every conversation he has. He believes that young people have far more to offer than the world expects from them, and that great ideas can come from anywhere. Sandro hopes that one day, more young Georgians will feel confident enough to share their voices and shape the world around them. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
