Former British Army head warns against using soldiers as ‘pseudo policemen’ amid covid restrictions

Former head of the British Army General Lord Dannatt has said soldiers should not be used as "extra policemen" amid tougher coronavirus restrictions.

It comes after Boris Johnson hinted that the military could be brought in to help backfill the police with enforcement demands.

Speaking with talkRADIO's Ian Collins, General Lord Dannatt said: "We are the nation's formal body of last resort, we'er paid for by the taxpayer and we should be used as necessary but we’re not pseudo-policemen.”
