Historic Hospital Abandoned & Rotting Away

The Old Mooroopna Base Hospital was erected during the 1930s and served as the principal medical institution for the communities of Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley. Despite its importance, it ceased operations in 1974. The main hospital building was slated to be transformed into an elderly care center before it was tragically destroyed by a suspicious fire in 2010.

Today, the remnants of the hospital stand abandoned, enclosed by a makeshift chain mesh fence. Its historic facade bears the markings of graffiti, while its skeletal structure is left exposed to the elements, untouched and unprotected for over a decade.
