Raised Flower Pendant in Polymer Clay, a Tutorial

Learn all you need to know to create this pendant from scratch, making a petal cane with neat square inserts and then using the petals to make a raised flower on a domed pendant. Tips and techniques are given throughout to help you achieve a professional looking finish.

I take you through the whole process, step by step, so sit back, relax and see how you can make one for yourself.

The CaneCaps, SquarePairs / Squarebenders and the Deep Shine UV Resin I used in the video are all from the Tiny Pandora Crafting Boutique, and can be found here: https://tinypandora.com/ . The Squarebenders give the graduated size of solid squares so useful for inserts, while the SquarePairs – normally used to turn round canes into square ones – come in pairs so are great at reducing neat square canes. Follow the link above to see what is available.

If you are in the UK, then the Cane Savers and Cane Shapers, from PCUK Tools can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/pcuktools/ They now have a new Etsy shop too - https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PCUKTools?ref=search_shop_redirect
For any worried HOP people, Teresa is happy for both links to be given.

For alternate domes to bake your piece on, have a look around your house and see what you have to hand. Ceramic or glass bowls are good to bake on of they have a nicely domed side. Or an old spent lightbulb is good – add some extra clay to the bottom of the lightbulb first so it stands upright during baking. The bottom of a drinks cans provides a nice domed form. Carefully cut away the sides of the can, and tape them to avoid cuts. Sand off any printed numbers from the bottom of the can base, as they can transfer to the clay. Also, there are some metal spoons that can give a good domed effect too. Just see what you can find.
