Versioning your model, Variations, and more | March Prismic Product Meet-up
We'll use this meet-up to announce several improvements, but the main discussion will be about content models and how to version them:
**The natural way for versioning content models**
Content models are defined by developers and evolve over time in response to the needs of your website or app. Now, this flexibility is part of their strength, but it is not uncommon to see breaks in sections of websites (or even across the entire website) when a mistake is made in the content model.
The natural solution for this problem is to store content models next to the code that displays them. So for a website section model, you'd store it next to the component file. This ensures that the model and the code are always in sync and versioned together (in GitHub or GitLab, for example).
Today SliceMachine allows you to do that for each website section. We're now taking that process one stage further and doing the same for pages.
This will require a rebuild of our custom type builder and this change will bring Slice Machine much closer to a "use in production" status.
So, if you're interested in what this update could bring to your projects or if you think that you can help us to improve our custom type builder, then this meet-up is the ideal opportunity to learn more and to share your feedback.
**Improvements we are releasing soon**
- For Gatsby and/or Typescript lover - An API to build your schemas
- New version of the CLI
- Variations and Bulk Actions
