The most insane excuses I've heard at security

The excuses I have heard at this checkpoint over twenty years could fill an entire book, and most of them come from people who knew exactly what was sitting in their bag the second they finished packing it.

My personal favorite is the gentleman who told me, with a completely straight face at six in the morning, that the seven inch hunting knife in his backpack was a kitchen utensil he needed for slicing apples on the airplane. A woman once told me her three full sized bottles of imported perfume were medically necessary because she has a rare condition where she has to smell good. A man swore up and down that what was stuffed in his sock was just a salad herb from his garden.

Whatever you say, sir, whatever you say. The line you are about to try on me, baby, I have heard it three thousand times. Just tell me what it is, and we can both move on with our morning.
