Believe it or not, Ted Lasso season 3, and the finale season(?), will return to Apple TV+ on March 15th. We’re breaking down everything you need to know before returning to Richmond. (clip)

If this is your first time stepping onto the pitch, Theodore Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, is a former American Football coach hired by AFC Richmond’s new sole owner, Rebecca Welton. One catch, he’s never coached soccer, sorry, futbol. That’s the point. She wishes to burn this team to the ground as revenge against her ex, unfaithful husband, Rupert. (clip)

The press, team, and the town are all baffled, if not pissed, about this choice of hiring an American for head manager. So it is no surprise when Ted and Coach Beard, played by co-creator Brendan Hunt, are given the side eye when introducing themselves to the team. Some take a liking to them, though: Nathan Shelley Richmond’s kit man, Keeley Jones, a model and Jamie Tart’s gf, and Higgins, the newly promoted director of Football Operations. Higgins unwillingly acts at first as a sort of henchman for Rebecca.

Ted’s positivity soon proves contagious, even to Rebecca. Much to her chagrin, he insists on having “Biscuits with Boss” every morning to bond with her; which he bakes himself, I might add. (clip) Trent Crimm, a reporter from the Independent, “can’t help but root for him” after spending a day following Ted around. Also, Roy Kent (clip), a veteran box-to-box midfielder and captain of Richmond played by writer Brett Goldstein, slowly lets Ted’s influence leak in when he puts an end to Jamie picking on Nate. Jamie Tartt is a harder nut to crack than Rebecca. Young, talented, and vain, Jaimie’s rise to fame makes him a poor team player and bully. Besides Nat, Jamie’s target is Sam, a young Nigerian right back. Ted lifts Sam’s spirits by having the team chip in for treats from his home country and throwing a Birthday party after a game. Jamie doesn’t participate.

During the team’s charity benefit, Ted has Jamie and Roy sit together to work through their issues. It sort of works. (clip)

The one relationship Ted can’t seem to fix is with his wife, Michelle. Season 1, Ep. 5 Tan Lines, delves into why Ted accepted a job across the pond; His marriage is falling apart. Ted invites Michelle and their son Henry to Richmond in a last-ditch attempt to work on their marriage. But reality sets in for Ted that his wife just doesn’t love him anymore, so he must let her go. A breakthrough finally comes with Jamie when a newly signed forward player Dani Rojas joins the team after recovering from an injury. (clip) He’s a powerful player, an excellent shot, and incredibly enthusiastic. (clip)

When Dani injures himself on the pitch, the team believes it's due to the “cursed treatment room.” According to Mae, the owner of the pub The Crown and Anchor Ted and Beard frequent, the origins of the curse extend back to November 1914. Posters around Richmond invited men to try out for the team when they were really being recruited to fight the war— A “ceremony” is held where staff and players put objects that have significant meaning to them into a container to burn to cleanse the room. Jamie even joins. As the fire burns out on the pitch, Dani arrives “cured.” The team seems to be on the up, with two aces in Dani and Jamie…until Rebecca transfers Jamie back to Manchester City the next day. (clip)

She’s still on a mission to ruin Rupert’s legacy. Until now, she’s attempted to garner lousy press for Ted and hired a photographer to take suggestive photos of Ted with Keeley. However, Keeley has also had a “Lasso” effect on Rebecca; She comes into the office to girl talk with her, gives her tips for looking fabulous on the red carpet, and becomes drinking buddies after the charity event. Rebecca eventually even offers Keeley the position of the club's manager of marketing and PR.
