FULL BODY HIIT WORKOUT - 20 Mins (At Home, No Equipment)
This is a simple HIIT routine I do at home which requires no equipment, burns a good amount of calories and doesn't require too much time.
The routine follows an up/down pattern. A standing exercise is followed by one on the ground and then back up. This engages the whole body while avoiding over-exertion!
Feel free to also substitute some of these with other exercises, for example, regular squats if jump squats put too much strain on your knees. Or high knees instead of butt kicks.
Some useful pointers:
- A great way to get an extra burn is to end the session is with a minute straight of burpees!
- If it's your first day trying something like this, just completing the circuit once or twice is enough. Do this at your own pace and listen to your body!
- Don’t worry about the number of repetitions per workout as HIIT is more about keeping your heart rate elevated for a specific duration.
- Also, incase if you are wondering, HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training.
- And for those of you who feel like this isn't as challenging as you'd like, make adjustments to the time! Go for 45 seconds on each workout or repeat the circuit 5 or 6 times! Remember to always pay attention to how your body feels and act accordingly. A gradual increase allows your body to adjust. You'll be surprised how quickly you can improve from just a few sessions of this!
- And do not attempt to do this every day. Or several days consecutively as your body needs sufficient time and rest to properly recuperate.
