Let us introduce you to ‘Jub Jib’, and listen to her speak to gibbons and feel sunlight on her skin, for the first time in 15 years.

Jub Jib once lived with her family in the wild. But one day her mother was shot and killed, while Jub Jib was clinging onto her.

She was then given to a human family. Jub Jib spent 15 years inside a house, treated like a human baby, fed human food and forced to wear diapers. She was emaciated when she arrived at WFFT. We found out her human family also gave her anti-depressants for 15 years to keep her 'calm'. Jub Jib was effectively addicted to these drugs. She spent her life in a dazed and confused state. She has had one of the worst lives we’ve ever seen for a rescued gibbon.

At 15 years old, Jub Jib should be strong, confident, and full of energy. But when she arrived, she looked like a geriatric gibbon. Being in a home, not swinging and climbing from trees like her body was built to do, means her body and muscles don’t work as they should.
