📚 Description: This is pretty much the rarest, most sought-after anniversary model that few people outside of the hard-core collector community know about. The TRUE 25th Anniversary Les Paul Custom that pre-dates the 25/50 Anniversary Les Paul. This 25th Anniversary Les Paul has an all silver finish and 2 other special features that may or may not be present. The pick guard will either be etched Les Paul (presumably by Les himself) or embossed Les Paul. A few examples have surfaced with no signature, but it is not clear if those have been replaced or not. It has also been observed that most of them got a special 25th Anniversary engraved tailpiece. This etched tailpiece is the quintessential piece for the 25th anniversary Les Paul Custom. No one knows exactly how many were made, but it is estimated to be around 25-50. They came in both Gold and Chrome hardware. It was once believe that gold was rarer, however, more gold versions have shown up online than silver at the time of filming this video.

These were commissioned by Hollywood Guitar Center in late 1977. This custom order might have been what birthed the Silverburst finish which eventually came out in 1978. Silverburst is now a cult-classic and the most expensive finish you can buy on a Les Paul from normal colors.
