Question of the week - Should I buy near high voltage power lines?

In certain areas of Sydney it is common to see High Voltage power lines.
Whilst some people are indifferent to them, others have concerns about possible long term health risks of living in the vicinity of them.

Where possible, the power lines will be located over bushland or greenspace, however they can run over private land and there is a powerline easement on this land, preventing you from building directly beneath them, however for some people they would be happy to purchase these lots as they are usually larger parcels of land.

This could be ideal for people requiring a larger piece of land to store equipment or trucks etc.

Properties near or beneath high voltage powerlines will sell at a discount compared to non affected properties.

Pools in the past had been built beneath them, but most councils will no longer allow this.

Before considering buy land beneath or near high voltage power lines, please speak to your Finance broker as most banks will have lending restrictions or require a higher deposit.
