Once again 5 has become 10, but needed it to explain the disservice we do to introductory students by teaching energy and momentum conservation as if they are edicts from above. Thanks to Emmy Noether we now understand these, and all fundamental laws of physics arise due to basic symmetries of nature, so the search for new physics becomes a search for new symmetries. This not only governs the way we think about the world, but also connects elementary physics to physics at the forefront. #5minPhysics
