And Then I Started Writing - The Story of Sheindi Miller

Sheindi Miller, nee Ehrenwald, was born in 1929 in Galanta, Slovakia. In 1942 her three brothers were drafted to labor battalions. In March 1944 the Germans invaded Hungary; Sheindi began writing a diary that day. In June 1944 the Hungarians rounded up all the Jews of the area in the brick factory at Nové Zámky, and they were deported from there to Auschwitz. Throughout her imprisonment, Sheindi continued writing her diary on factory cards where she worked. Following liberation, she reunited with two of her brothers who had survived. In 1949 all three immigrated to Israel. Sheindi married Michael, and the two started a family. They live in Jerusalem, Israel.
