Margaret Court's 'tribute' was 'hijacked' by McEnroe and Navratilova
Sky News Contributor Catherine McGregor says what should have been a “respectful tribute” towards Margaret Court, was instead “hijacked” by “brat” John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova.
Former American tennis stars John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova had apologised after they conducted an on-court protest against Margaret Court during this year’s Australian Open.
The two former tennis champions condemned Margaret Court for her opinions on same sex marriage.
“Margaret Court is not only Australia's greatest female tennis player, she is the greatest female player of all time,” Ms McGregor said.
“Whatever you think of her theology or politics she deserved more respect than she was accorded by her detractors”.
