We've talked about the $908 billion stimulus package over the past week, which contains weekly $300 unemployment benefits until April 2021.

As I discussed in my earlier video, a new stimulus package was announced by the White House, which features a $916 billion price tag, more stimulus checks, but no extended enhanced unemployment benefits.

So, with 2 new stimulus proposals, which package has the best chance of passing?

Fortunately for those in need of unemployment benefits, it seems like there is currently more support for the $908 billion stimulus bill with extended enhanced unemployment benefits, but no stimulus checks.

While I’d love to see both another round of stimulus checks, as well as more extended enhanced unemployment funds, if I had to choose one over the other, I think that more unemployment benefits would do more help a larger number of Americans.

Meanwhile, Governor Charlie Baker, from the great state of Massachusetts, wrote a letter to Congress recently, demanding more funds for extended enhanced unemployment benefits that are set to expire in the coming weeks.

Baker explained: "I've been urging my colleagues in Washington for quite awhile now to recognize and understand how important it would be for all of their constituents to come together on a plan that either looks like, or is an extension of the CARES Act that was passed last summer, last spring."

He continued: "Unless that thing gets extended, there will not be an unemployment assistance program in the United States for a whole bunch of folks who, through no fault of their own, are not able to work."

Hopefully Baker’s cries for help aren’t lost on Congress, as millions of Americans in every state are at risk of losing vital disaster relief funds just after Christmas.

Finally, the great state of Hawaii recently announced a new program that sounds like a great way to live and work in paradise.

A new program called Movers & Shakas, aims to bring 50 out of towners to live and work in Hawaii, as well as provide some much needed volunteer work to the state currently struggling with the highest unemployment rate in America.

According to the program: “Professionals will work remotely from the islands and contribute their skills and expertise to diversify the local business community. New residents will also be expected to volunteer with local nonprofits that serve the community’s youth, education, entrepreneurship efforts and more.”

In return, applicants will get: “free airfare to the state and get to enjoy life in Hawaii. The program will also help newcomers get settled through discounted living accommodations, co-working space memberships and other deals throughout their stay.”

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, get over the hump on hump day and apply today.

Just visit your state’s PUA or UI website, show them your full employment history, and let them know that you’ve been out of work due to that thing out there.
