Pelomyxa palustris

Pelomyxa is a genus of free-living amoebae from anaerobic or micro-aerophilic habitats. This specimen was found below decaying leaves in a water-filled tree hollow. The video shows the so called fountain streaming of the cell. Pelomyxa cells can reach a size of 5 mm long, containing numerous nuclei and several glycogen bodies and different types of symbiotic bacteria.
