Harry Chapin - Taxi (Original Promo LP Mix, January 1972)

Taken from the Elektra Records Promo-Only release spotlighting the new LP releases for January 1972, this is the original "pre-release" mix of Taxi, credited only to "Harry". A very different mix from what would eventually be released on 45 and the "Heads & Tales" LP, this extremely dry, minimal reverb mix is highlighted by Harry reciting the middle lyrics over Big John Wallace's falsetto vocals. The recitation, of course, would be removed from the mix by the time the song was released to the public. While there have been homebrew remixes TAXI uploaded to YouTube with the spoken middle lyrics intact, they were in reality just the general released mix with the promo middle laid over it. This is the actual promo mix, taken straight from the promo vinyl LP.
