Is it possible to go blind from looking at your smartphone? A fairly new term is called Transient Smartphone Blindness. Luckily it sounds worse than it actually is.

Smartphone blindness refers to a symptoms when you look at your phone screen while laying down on your side. One eye tends to be covered by a blanket or a pillow, while the other eye is looking at the phone screen. The eye looking at the phone will get light adapted. When that person gets up off the bed, they will notice that they eye that has been looking at the phone can't see as well in the dark. The eye that was covered can still great in the dark, because it is dark adapted. It will make it feel like the the eye is going blind or losing vision. Luckily everything will return to normal after a few minutes.
