MY VERSION OF SALISBURY STEAK⎜SUPER COMFORT VEGAN FOOD ⎜SIMPLE AND EASY INGREDIENTS
INGREDIENTS:
For the patties:
1/2 lb of cooked TVP (or any meat substitute of your choice), recipe below
2 teaspoons of onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika
1/5 teaspoon garam masala or curry powder
1/5 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1/4 teaspoon of molasses or a pinch of instant coffee
3 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds diluted in 6 tablespoons of water 1/2 cup of bread crumbs
2 tablespoons of cornstarch or potato starch
2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
For the Sauce:
3 tablespoons of vegan butter (recipe below)
1 minced onion
8oz of mushrooms, sliced
1/5 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of flour diluted in 1/5 cup of water
2 cups of vegetable broth and two tablespoons of soy sauce
Dash of Worcestershire sauce (recipe below)
1 tablespoon of ketchup
METHOD:
In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the patties. Form into 4 (or 6 depending on how big you want them) oval patties and set them aside.
In a large skillet, sear the patties for a few minutes on each side or until they develop some gold color, remove to a plate and set aside.
In the same skillet over medium-high heat, add the butter and allow it to melt, add the onions, sauté for 2 minutes, add the mushrooms and sauté for about 7, 8 minutes or until they become golden brown in color
Add the soy sauce, the vegetable broth, the Worcestershire sauce, the ketchup, the spices, the salt, and pepper, bring mixture to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, add the patties back in and cook for 10 minutes, making sure to flip them halfway through for even cooking.
Add the flour slurry, let it cook for 3 minutes more.
Sprinkle over some freshly chopped parsley and Bon Appétit
